What's that? Chef's Lounge March 2K10 March 6, 2010
Another sterling Chef's Lounge event at Pier 23 in San Francisco. We had a great turnout and a huge thank you to Flicka McGurrin and the staff at Pier 23 Café. What a great venue! Right on the bay off the Embarcadero. This place rocks! Literally, it’s been a San Francisco staple for musical entertainment for years. Most every night, you can enjoy some great music. From rock to reggae, jazz to funk! The menu is what you expect from a musical pub, with some nice twists. It's a great place for tourists to mingle with the locals from San Francisco.
As with all the Chef's Lounge events, this was a pot-luck affair. Chef's pot-luck is a bit "luckier" I think. Everyone brings a wine or dish to share. Here are some of the highlights. Our instigator, Todd Spanier of King of Mushrooms brought a sample of some wild mushrooms and some fabulous bread samples from Panorama bakery.
Dan Leff, of Chef Dan Leff Catering in the east bay area, had these AMAZING carmelized onion and sundried tomato empanadas. They were promptly inhaled. A wonderful fresh and zesty ceviche and fresh tortilla chips was brought by Chef Maurice Dissels of Birk's Restaurant in Santa Clara.
Chef Ingrid Rohrer brought a cherry clafouti that sang with the Fabbri cherries. Speaking of dessert, Ming Rachel Adler from Fabbri North America always brings the best desserts. How does Rum-Soaked Bananas and Chocolate Parfait sound to you? Or a wonderful sorbet cake.
Neil Marquis had a crowd pleaser with his Tasso-stuffed Prawns, wrapped in bacon and topped with a Crystal glaze. The pictures here are all courtesy of Neil, by the way. (Thanks for letting me poach these from you!)
Another great night of food, fun and friends. See you next month!
